As the Burrito Burns

Step into the surrealishious and amazing world of Mexico as told through the eyes and mind of a teacher who has spent the past 20 years living in the coastal city of Puerto Vallarta. A wide range of experiences stretching from the serious to the sublime: living, working, marrying, birthing, teaching, eating, drinking, frolicking and fraternizing and so much more. There is so much to see and do, to tell and be told the list never gets old here at "As the Burrito Burns."

A Great Mexican Breakfast Option.

You might not be overly familiar with the breakfast offerings in Vallarta but I do have a suggestion that should satisfy most. My husband and I just came from a delicious repast combined with excellent sevice and a great view. Where? At the long established spot known as Las Palomas on the Malecon. My husband has been eating here for over 30 years so you might say it's tried and tested and then some. Here's why we like it so much:

The decor is truly Mexican with stucco walls, lots of ceramics, beautiful paintings and equipal furniture that squeaks with comfort.

The views are relaxing since you can look out at the ocean, the passing boats and an interesting array of pedestrians as you sip your fresh grapefruit juice.

The food is GOOD. They really do specialize in Mexican food so my husband was very pleased with his chicharrones in salsa verde accompanied by hand patted tortillas and a couple of fresh salsas. The truth is, there are not many places with a woman on tortilla duty as most restaurants are giving you the factory made tortilla and there is a BIG difference. One of my faves are the huevos Rancheros. Try them.

As an added bonus, they actually had live music this morning! Two chaps on Marimba and they were far enough away to be pleasant and didn't overpower our conversation.

So, if you are looking for a special breakfast on a Sunday, take a trip to Las Palomas, grab one of their comp. newspapers, order up a jugo natural and mellow out with the ocean view. I think you'll be very satisfied with the experience.
