As the Burrito Burns

Step into the surrealishious and amazing world of Mexico as told through the eyes and mind of a teacher who has spent the past 20 years living in the coastal city of Puerto Vallarta. A wide range of experiences stretching from the serious to the sublime: living, working, marrying, birthing, teaching, eating, drinking, frolicking and fraternizing and so much more. There is so much to see and do, to tell and be told the list never gets old here at "As the Burrito Burns."

Back in Black!

Hi burning burrito eaters, I mean readers. Yes, it's been a long, sweaty summer and I didn't post anything as I have been travelling around and tending to the art of being on vacation but that's all about to change. I'm back at work, back in business and back in black, as it were.

We all visited a new restaurant last Friday called "La Hija de Montezeuma" no less. It's just off the turn-off as you head to the Libramiento. What a trippy place! First of all, it's huge and has a really strange/eclectic but haphazard decor. It has a really great menu in Spanish, but the English version can be frightening. How about an appetizer listed as "Lambs Fried Bowel," or "Peal your own shrimp," or "Pregnant Shrimp"? We all had a good laugh over those! On a more serious note, they do have a great sopa de tortilla which I would recommend and the Ceasar salad is made from scratch at your table. The beer is cheap, cold and plentiful, so what's not to like? They have live music and great service, so I advise you to check it out if you're in the hood. Hopefully you won't experience any revenge from the Montezeuma legacy!

More to come...
