As the Burrito Burns

Step into the surrealishious and amazing world of Mexico as told through the eyes and mind of a teacher who has spent the past 20 years living in the coastal city of Puerto Vallarta. A wide range of experiences stretching from the serious to the sublime: living, working, marrying, birthing, teaching, eating, drinking, frolicking and fraternizing and so much more. There is so much to see and do, to tell and be told the list never gets old here at "As the Burrito Burns."

Sacramento Bound.

Eventually our time in San Fran came to an end and we headed for Sacramento and the home of Linda and Karla. One of the great things about their house is its proximity to MORE STORES!! Target, Nordstrom's The Rack, and Ross Dress for Less are all pretty close by so we didn't even need the GPS to find them! Ha!

The deals at Nordstrom's were epic. They had the summer stuff down 50% to 75% and just to give you an example, I got a pair of Jones of New York capris that were reg. $70 for $12 and a beautiful bather that was $68 for $6.99!! Hello! The list goes on. At Target I got a few things for the girls and a nice sports bra I've been wanting and at Ross we found a few nice items for Fernando at excellent prices as well! Once we were all shopped out we hit "Le Bou" for those Vietnamese spring rolls with the peanut dipping sauce which is a fave of ours and then we went back home to chill for a bit.

Once again the evening plans were delightful! Linda's beau is a salvage diver and had given her a pantload of lobster tails. There was also a few tubs of the famous Pismo Beach clam chowder and a big slab of steak for the Char-b-que of which Karla and Linda own the Cadillac. My gall-bladder was quivering with anticipation.

Later in the evening Karla fired up her excellent metal fire-pit and got a suitable flame going. The weather was conducive to just a light sweater and so we took our libations out to the backyard while the chowder bubbled on the stove inside. Eventually the Q was ready to receive the meat and the tails and it wasn't long before we were all sitting down to a feast fit for Queens. Karla's daughter Xochitl had us laughing because she had been anticipating this dinner since the day before and her rapture over it all was pretty amusing.

The soup was served in hollowed out bread bowls and was definitely the best clam chowder I've ever tasted. The lobster tails were tender and flavourful and dipped in a bit of clarified butter just tasted like food from the gods. The whole meal was suberb and just added to the whole extravagant quality of the entire visit. I can't thank Karla and Linda enough and I just want them to know how much I appreciate their friendship. Viva California!!!!
